Οι μεμβράνες λιμνοδεξαμενών χρησιμοποιούνται για να σχηματίσουν μεγάλους χώρους συγκέντρωσης νερού προς αντιμετώπιση της λειψυδρίας.

Ενώ υπάρχουν αρκετά είδη μεμβρανών όπως EPDM ή PVC που θα μπορούσαν να χρησιμοποιηθούν για τέτοιες εφαρμογές,οι μεμβράνες από HDPE δηλαδή υψηλής πυκνότητας πολυαιθυλένιο υπερτερούν σαφώς γιατί έχουν καλύτερες τιμές,μεγάλη αντοχή στο χρόνο και βγαίνουν σε μεγάλες διαστάσεις λόγω του μικρού τους πάχους,η δε συγκόλληση τους είναι εύκολη.

Επιπλέον έχουν μεγάλες χημικές και μηχανικές αντοχές,υψηλή διαστατική σταθερότητα και αντίσταση στη ρηγμάτωση και αντέχουν όσα λίγα πολυμερή

υλικά στη γήρανση λόγω του περιεχομένου γραφίτη.

Οι επιφάνειες του εδάφους που θα στεγανοποιηθούν με τις  HDPE μεμβράνες λιμνοδεξαμενών πρέπει να είναι επαρκώς συμπυκνωμένες και χωρίς προεξέχοντα αντικείμενα.

Γεωυφάσματα συνήθως πολυπροπυλενίου σε βάρη 400-600gr/m2 διαστρώνονται για μηχανική προστασία και αμέσως τοποθετούνται οι  μεμβράνες λιμνοδεξαμενών από HDPE με τις προβλεπόμενες επικαλύψεις.

Οι μεμβράνες λιμνοδεξαμενών βγαίνουν σε μεγάλα μήκη και πλάτη κι αυτό βοηθάει τη μείωση των ραφών.

Πάχη υπάρχουν αρκετά αλλά τα πιο συνηθισμένα είναι 1-1,5mm.

Tα γεωυφάσματα διατίθενται συνήθως σε πλάτη έως 4m αλλά υπάρχει δυνατότητα παράδοσης σε πλάτη μέχρι 6m.

What are geotextiles?

Polypropylene fibers - aka synthetic fibers - are used in cement mixes mainly to control early cracking from plastic shrinkage.

This is more valid for the so called

- micro-synthetic fibers or

- monofilament fibers

What exactly is a roofing underlay / underlayment and what is its role?

It is a thin waterproofing membrane positioned exactly under the tiles with the main roll to prevent the water which enters through the tiles' gaps to penetrate into the roofing system and cause problems to its integrity and functionality.


There are two main kinds of roofing underlay / underlayment for sloped / pitched roofs:


1. Breathable or breather membranes

These membranes let water vapor pass freely through their mass and can be used in ventilated and non ventilated roofs.

They don't need ventilation under them so they can be installed directly on the thermal insulation layer.

They are lighter and mechanically less robust than bituminous underlay.

Usual weights: 100 - 215gr/m2

Usual structure: three layers


2. Non breathable membranes ( normally bituminous / asphalt)

They are more robust, but because they are not vapor permeable, they are used only in ventilated roofs.
